It must be a really exciting time for you. You are about to get a great education, meet new friends, and prepare to embark on your new working life a few years from now. A partner of your new campus life will be your notebook computer. Your polytechnic firmly believes that you will benefit greatly from your education if you have a computing tool with you.
We have been a strong partner with Ngee Ann polytechnic for the last four years on the Mobile Computing Initiative - a project to equip students like you with a notebook computer. This year is no exception and we have 5 models designed to suit every budget and requirements.
We learned many things over the course of four years. For example, we know that students prefer to store their notebook in a backpack because it makes it easier whether you bike to campus or take the local commute. If you have a normal notebook bag, can you imagine carrying 3kg on your shoulder for 8 hours in your campus? It can be painful! So, we designed a deluxe backpack with cushioning that can store your notebook safely. Extra padding has been added around the waist and shoulder blade areas of the backpack to support the added weight. At the same time, we built compartments in the pack for you to store your tutorials and lectures notes. We even built in a holster to hold your water bottle. We are certain that you'll find the backpack comfortable to use and practical. You get this free as part of the notebook bundle.
One of the biggest concerns was the weight of the notebooks, so this year, we decided to introduce what we think may be the world's thinnest notebook, the Portege R100. It also happens to be extremely light, at only 1.1 kg. Campus warriors will not have any problems lugging this svelte, head-turning notebook around. Yes! Very cool.
Some of you will have projects that require taking digital pictures for your presentation materials. If you own a digital camera that use a SD media card as a storage medium, you can transfer the images directly into the Toshiba notebooks through the SD media card slot available on some of our notebooks. If you happen to invest in a PDA that uses SD storage, you can transfer data from your PDA to your notebook with the SD media card as well. All models shown here have the SD media card slot except for the Satellite models.
You can browse through the models on this website. We provided virtual product tours of our models, where available, so that you can see them at different angles. All you need is the Flash plug-in for your browser to work.
Service & Support
All the notebooks come with 3 years local warranty on campus. That means if your notebook breaks down, you can send it in for servicing at the Co-op. As an extra benefit, you can also call our Toshiba Global Support Center if you need product support. The number is 1800-TOSHIBA (8674422*). It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That means if you are working late at night on your notebook and need help, no problems, you can call us.
